Does that just patience go over the magic table or do I have to use the anvil, or can I find it in fortresses or get it by swapping? Would like a possible fast method that costs little level, thanks.
So the last time I made a sharpness 5 sword was by combining 2 sharpness 4 books in the anvil. I would first have to try whether this still works today

But you have to put in a sword instead of a book so that you only get sword enchants, because then it is more likely that you can get sharpness 5.
You can also search libraries in Strongholds.
So you can gradually upgrade a book from sharpness 1?
YES. Sharpness 1 and 1 gives 2. Sharpness 2 and 2 gives 3 etc.
What are strongholds?
I think the best way to do this is to enchant a fishing rod and then simply fish until you have enough sharp books
