There are many videos on YouTube that have to be made with Redstone, for example an elevator.
I played Minecraft years ago when digital displays were built with red tone lamps and they could show the time. Maybe a ticker would also be possible. However, note the server rules if you play online, many servers do not want large red tone circuits, as these may require a lot of power.
Although this is possible, it is extremely slow due to the delay due to amplifiers, which you definitely need. In addition, if you want to use an almost good resolution, the display would probably be so large that not all chunks would be loaded.
