How can I create my own jar files as a profile in Minecraft?

As you all know, Minecraft (Java Edition) is written in Java.

If I now create a new profile, a jar file is automatically linked to it (e.g. 1.12.jar). However, I got the jar files for previous versions on https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/..._rd-132328 on the Internet that are not available in the launcher. The question now is how can I profile these jar files so that I can open them via launcher?

Maybe it works very differently. I play under Windows 10, and I know the command line a little.

Thank you, Erik!

PS: I have already opened the jar file (e.g. When installing Forge), but this did not work.

Po

Copy a folder which is in the versions folder.
Replace the jar file in the copy of the folder
Rename the Jar and the .json (both must have the same name)
Open the json file with a text editor
Search for id and replace the version with the same name of the jar and the json file
Give the folder the same name.
Now you can create the profile in the launcher.

Unfortunately it did not work. I duplicated 1.0, and when I renamed the jar file, folder and json and changed the id, it still came out 1.0.

The rd-132328 is also available in the Minecraft Launcher, if you check the historic versions. With such old versions, I don't think you can rename them either.

Okay thanks.

I found the setting.
