Minecraft mod confusion zip to jar?

A question to the Minecraft gurus, I'm new to modding. With many Mods 1.15.2 I download a zip file, but in every description it says I should put the jar file in the Mods folder, but there's no jar file in the zip either, do I have to convert it somehow?

Open the zip file and there should be a normal folder called mod.

You drag it into the mod folder.
