About nitrado is only Sponge Vanilla: /
There's not really a Sponge Forge server. This is just a Forge server with Sponge Forge as a mod. So that works without problems at Nitrado, but nevertheless this hoster is bad.
What would you recommend as an alternative?

The best way to get away with root servers (for example, from netcup), but you have to set up the Minecraft server itself (I can set up for you, if you do not know anyone who is capable). In return, you can then choose your own panel (Pterodactyl, for example, is very good and completely free) and run additional servers like TeamSpeak.
That would be really great, personally, I have not yet dealt with root servers.
