I wanted to ask if there are any risks in owning a Minecraft server. I wanted to know if any costs could be incurred at once because of a license. I just want to prove to my parents that there are no risks in the sense that they have to pay more money than usual. I want to rent a VPS that my Minecraft server runs on. But my parents are suspicious, so I would like to confirm that a Minecraft server does not bring in any additional costs if you make a normal Minecraft server, such as A CB server.
Except that you have to host it somewhere (which usually costs monthly or annually, Nitrado for example), or if you host it yourself - there are no additional costs for electricity.
Under normal circumstances there are no sudden or unexpected costs, at most a setup fee. I don't see any risks (financially) either.
The whole thing should run on a vServer
Well then, there's nothing extra
OK thanks
Nonsense, I also rented a Minecraft server years ago. Why should there be license fees?
Minecraft servers are in principle independent of Mojang or the makers of the game. All you have to adhere to is the Minecraft Eula. But it shouldn't be a problem for small private servers. I myself have been using paid servers for a long time and everything runs smoothly. So I can only reassure your parents and say: it's safe and there are no additional costs.
My dad worries about licensing or copyright costs, but the server is only available to players who bought the game
Thank you.
The setup fee is free.
So a strange voice from the internet will probably not help you that much to convince your father. Write an email to the company where you want to host the server (unless you want to rent a root server and do everything yourself). They will then send you a reply email and confirm that it is not so. I think that has more weight.
I would like to rent a vServer on which the Minecraft server will run. So the two things still run separately
