Minecraft: 1.14 Do you need phantom skin for something?

I recently read that there are phantoms, these things that are more likely to spawn on players with a high sleep deficit. Now I have the habit of going to bed to see some of these critters. I have informed myself exactly about the spawn conditions and nothing stands in the way.

Now I have only one more question: they sometimes drop their skin when killed. What do you need them for? Can you craft or trade with it?
