I have heard the term "Texture Atlas" (mostly in connection with Minecraft?) And that every graphics card has its own maximum for it. What is meant by texture atlas and why can I never find anything about it in connection with graphics cards on the internet?
A texture atlas is something like that
So just put all the textures together in a big picture.
what is probably meant by the maximum, is the VRAM of the graphics card. This image may not be larger than the VRAM (along with any other data stored in the VRAM), without writing to disk or RAM, which makes the processing of this data much slower.
Ok, so it should be in the gtx 1660 to a maximum of 6GB?
What exactly would that mean in Minecraft?
A png with a resolution of 100,000x100,000 pixels is about 6gb in size. In the vram but also many other data are stored, so that's really silly because something rumzurechnen with the resolution of the textures.
OK thank you
