Lately no animals (except fish) have spawned in my world at all. I wanted to build a cow farm for bookshelves, but there are no more cows. I saw a chicken earlier, but that's it.
Why is that?
It would be helpful to know if you have any mods installed and in which biome you are expecting cows?!
I don't have any mods and I'm in the normal forest biome. There used to be animals.
Have you been playing the map in survival mode since then? Speak without cheats and creative mode?
What platform are you playing on?

You need at least two to spawn again, because I didn't know that at the time, it took me hundreds of hours of play for sheep and pigs to return.
You could try to find two cows elsewhere and bring them to master.
