Redstone signal from chain command block?

I use the method a lot with which I use a repeater to pass a signal from one command block to another command block in order to save time. However, today it somehow did not work as I had imagined. Although all 4 command blocks were activated, the last one did not pass on the signal.

I have to admit I don't know what to do…

In addition, I had a long break with Minecraft until recently and I'm not sure if I missed something obvious (all chain-command blocks are chain, conditional & always active).

Would be nice if I get an answer that answers this (this perhaps obvious) question.

You have to put a comparator on the command block and not a repeater

I solved it, only with impulse command blocks the repeater works, with chain command blocks only the comparator works.

Incidentally, I chose the repeater on purpose, otherwise the signal remains.
