If it is bedrock, then it will definitely not work. Usually you put all the shader stuff in the .minecraft folder. I don't know if you've already done that. But if the game recognizes the downloaded folder as it is for you (he just can't open it) without having to put the files in a folder, then this is definitely not Java on which you are plays.
