Minecraft 1.5.2 crashed?

Out of nostalgia I wanted to play MC 1.5.2 again. But when I start it it crashes every time:

I've had the problem too. Most of the time it helps to delete it and then download it again, but first save the edited maps as a file on icloud or ka where.

Somehow it's down to the launcher. It works with https://multimc.org/.

Minecraft already crashes on 1.7.10 for me.

It could be the launcher. The version is now very old. But there are also alternative launchers.
