Forest online. How should this work (ps4)?

I'm thinking of buying the forest for ps4.

There you can play it online but how should that work?

Does that only mean friends? Because online means for me with other ps4 users.

But you play the forest a bit longer like minecraft? I do not get it? Can help me jmd?

I've never played the forest in multiplayer, but I guess that will work just like the pc version.

one hosts the server or the game, and the other logs in. Google certainly helps with the setup.
