Why does Minecraft freeze?

Every time I play Minecraft, my game regularly freezes for a second, during the freeze all cores of my CPU are fully utilized, but then back to 15%. My one thread is even permanently at 100%, but only one thread.

I think you're using a texture pack, if so, take it out
