There are many versions of Minecraft! Which do you like better?
Sure - Java can do more, etc.
However, I find the BE Cross-Platform approach to work much better. I would like the BE to get to the JE through updates.

There's only Minecraft Java and Bedrock
Pocketmine is server software for Bedrock servers
Minecraft Dungeons is similar to Minecraft, but actually a different game and not a Minecraft version
Java is the best version in my opinion because of the better mods and the better servers, but I don't think Bedrock is bad at all. Bedrock also supports crossplay, which does it pretty well, among other things.
Most mods, maps, skins and texture packs are free and you can do more with commands and Redstone is easier / better to use.
I've been playing the Java Edition for 10 years and immediately notice when I play the Bedrock Edition how much less I can do there.
