My opinion:
How do I find the new signs? I think so. Better than the block function of the swords, which only reduces the damage. By contrast, with the shields you can reduce the damage to zero. But only if you can do it e.g. Ward off arrows (positive)
How do I find the cooldown: I find it extremely annoying… You have to wait forever, before you can beat again. Based on the signs, I think the cooldown is quite good. Because the signs should not be completely overpowered. (negative)
What do I think of the new mobs: Why not… New content is (almost) always good… (positive)
What do I think of the new textures: Hm… I still have to make friends with the new textures… But somehow cool too Minecraft looks a bit more modern. Nevertheless I like the old Default Texture Pack somehow more (- - -)
How do I find the new villages: Hm… The new villages… I do not know if it's the nostalgia, but somehow I like the old villages somehow more. But still, the new villages are much more detailed, and that's why I think that's quite good. (rather positive)

The Combat System before that does not call the name Combat System… It was a pure mashing button in a game with an update rate of 20 Hz.
The new system is designed for this 20Hz, it knows about the problems and therefore the cooldown, so you hit 1x per second and do not suffer from the 20Hz.
In addition to just doing the damage, swing the sword for knockback + area damage, which ensures that the new system does not bring too much harm when fighting against large crowds.
