What does a Minecraft.zip file actually do?

I have somehow created a Minecraft.zip file and since then all I've done in Minecraft is Completely gone. Does that have something to do with it? If I unpack that, can I get everything back? If so, how do I extract the Minecraft.zip file. Because when I unzip them there's always: There's no file and no folder.

If you have it installed, make a right-click on the Minecraft.zip file, then select "Open with WinRar". If that does not work, your data is not included in this file.

The file can be opened / unzipped with WinRAR or 7zip. Simply drag the files to the desktop (or else live).

If your .exe is in the ZIP directory and you run the dadrin, that's because. But Minecraft is not downloaded as .ZIP but as setup.exe ^^
