Is the original and doesn't have as many strange mechanics (for example in Redstone) as the Bedrock.

You can modify it more and have more options. There are now servers with crossplay and crossplay plugins (example: GrieferGames), but they are quite buggy. Client-side crossplay add-ons are blocked by, for example, watchdog.

Java has more players, better mechanics, better modding options and poorer performance, which can be annoying, especially on poor end devices.

If you like better performance more or want to play with console or mobile phone players, then Bedrock Edition

If you want to become a pro and improve yourself to infinity by doing what no other game allows or if you don't want to play online with any Handy Noobs, then Java Edition

Two major disadvantages of the Bedrock are that the jumping animation is just extremely kekw and there's no spectator mode at all!
