I've just built a PC that has windows xp. I have Minecraft installed but as soon as I open the launcher there's a error message. What can I do that can play Minecraft?

Ja

Which error message?

fa

The launcher had problems opening or something

Ja

But that does not have to be due to the operating system. Is there an error code there? This can have some causes.

fa

I don't know. I'll check it later

fa

I do not think so

fa

The error message:

Minecraft Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close

Ja

Hmm. Times tried a reinstallation? Do you have DirectX etc installed?

fa

What is that supposed to be? I have the Minecraft installer pulled on the stick because I have no wireless Internet on the PC and no LAN, etc. Then I installed it and now there's this weird error message

Ja

So in your place, I would try times to run the launcher as an administrator. Besides, I do not know if Minecraft needs internet. Otherwise I would advise you to reinstall.

Besides, do you have Wi-Fi? If so, you can connect your phone to your PC, connect it to Wi-Fi and then turn on USB tethering. Then you also have on your PC Wi-Fi on your phone.

fa

Okay thanks in advance, but how do I run the launcher as an administrator?

Ja

Right click on the launcher, and then click on "Run as administrator".

fa

Okay thank you I try it. After reinstalling and then?

Ja

If it does not work then it may be that the Java version used by Minecraft is no longer compatible with XP. Then you would have to change for better or worse to a newer operating system. What I would advise you anyway. It does not cost much, and XP is hardly supported anymore.

You can't play Minecraft because there are hardly any current programs running on Windows XP. I advise you to make an update to Windows 7. This is free, search in the settings your system key, write off the, deoloade Windows 7 ausm Internet, install, give the key and play Minecraft! 😉👍

Well, for wireless WLAN you need just a router that sends a signal. Otherwise, you probably have to put your PC somewhere where you can ans ans Lankabel.

Minecraft does not work under Windows XP.

Minecraft is also available for Linux. I recommend installing a Linux distribution on the PC. For example, Bodhi Linux. This requires even less system resources than Windows XP. Here is the download of the ISO: http://sourceforge.net/...o/download

Then the ISO with this tool http://www.freeisoburner.com/ burn to a blank DVD or if you boot from USB can write with this tool https://unetbootin.github.io/ the ISO on a blank formatted stick. The stick must be formatted in FAT32. If the stick is larger than 32GB you need this tool to format https://www.heise.de/...tter-50072, because it overrides the 32GB limit of FAT32.

Then boot the burned DVD or the stick. When the desktop appears, go to the start menu> Applications> Preferences> Install Bodhi Linux. After a short time, the installation wizard appears. Just follow the instructions of the installer. After completing the installation and the first reboot, look for Terminology in the Start menu and start it. Now the prompt appears. Then enter the following commands and conclude with Enter:

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
sudo apt install gdebi dkms lintian synaptic firefox

When that's done, restart your computer.

Here is Minecraft for Linux: https://launcher.mojang.com/...ecraft.deb After download just double-click install. If Java is not already installed, it will be automatically installed.

Then search the start menu. There would then have to be an entry in games or games.

You can't update XP to any newer system, there's no "key" to it.

If the computer meets the requirements, you can reinstall Windows 10, the necessary product key costs to under 20 euro, instructions can be found on the net.
