Hi. I recently read that there's a Harry Potter mod for Minecraft, decided to give it a try and updated my dusty version of Minecraft. I read to install mods, the best thing to do is use Forge, which I downloaded. However, I can't open this file (forge installer, jar), if I click on it, this loading symbol (the circle) appears for a fraction of a second, but then nothing happens. I installed Java and repeated everything twice and three times, but it still doesn't work. Does anyone know where the problem is?
My PC is less than 3 years old, I use Windows 10 and everything should be up to date.
Start with the console, then you will see the error message if one appears.
Do you actually open it with Java?
For mc mods you don't have to open the files at all… You just have to put them in the right folder and then open them in mc yourself
It's about the installer, not the mod.
Maybe you have not installed Java 8 but e.g. 13?
I was once told that Minecraft stuff should work best with Java 8.
In addition, my Minecraft did not start when I installed Java 13.
You could also try the "Windows Installer" instead of the installer. This is not a jar but an exe file
