I don't understand why so many play and love this game.
The graphics are just lousy, I would even call them beyond "bad", the graphics are just "Lego"… All that is involved are blocks and cuboids, regardless of whether it is a house, animal or pet. Or zombies. Or mountains.
Many write that the fascination lies in the "infinite", so you can basically replicate / build anything, but why should that be fascinating when even the most iconic buildings - e.g. The Liberty Lady - what an assembled Lego looks like by a 5-year-old.
And before it comes - no, I don't just define the quality of a game in terms of the "graphics". I only play old classics myself - currently Gothic II without mods from 2002, which by today's standards also looks like cucumber.
So I only play it in creative mode and I enjoy being able to build everything and, above all, being able to build things from reality.
Not only the tree possibilities are unlimited. You can really do anything there. Play all imaginable game modes, use mods to recreate entire franchises. You could even play Gothic 2 there. It's also fun with friends and you can make it as difficult as you want.
I see! The private servers are of course the main reason! Gomme, Timolia etc. Have a real effect on the game.
No, I don't just define the quality of a game in terms of the "graphics"
Oh yes? Then let's see:
The
Graphics are just lousy, I would call them beyond "bad"
Graphics are just "Lego"
looks like an assembled Lego from a 5 year old.
Obviously, your problem lies in the graphics. Which is ok. Even so, you shouldn't downgrade the game for no reason, as you obviously aren't playing it. Minecraft has an extremely wide range of options (PVP, parkour, technology, building, survival). It's just the diversity and the almost unlimited possibilities of the game. It's a game that is very easy to learn and impossible (really impossible) to master. If you are creative, intelligent and determined, you will always find something new in this game, what you can do or what goes beyond the limits of what you have tried so far.
In Minecraft, the only limit is your imagination. Play it and see for yourself. There are endless ways to play this game. You can also install texture packs if you don't like the look of the game.
If you had read to the end, you would have come to Gothic, for example. The game has a story in the Ggs. To Minecraft - and it has role-playing elements, and voice output, thus also flair and atmosphere. All points that I'm missing in Minecraft.
I've watched Minecraft YouTube videos several times, but I can't get anything out of it.
There are several reasons. Depending on what you are doing.
For someone doing redstone, it's kind of a logic puzzle.
For someone who does PvP, it's the unique mechanics.
For someone who builds like me, the challenge is to build something beautiful despite the graphics; Get creative.
As you already noticed, it's very similar to Lego. There are some differences, but the principle is similar.
It's a kind of art. (Law of advance, one can also build.)
To be able to create something like that in a computer game is quite unique.
If it's not for you, ok. But I like it because I can act creatively there. I'm not as good at any art form as I'm at building in Minecraft.
Thanks for the constructive contribution. X)
And it has
Role play elements, and
Speech output, thus too
Flair and
The atmosphere. All points that I'm missing in Minecraft.
And the nice thing about Minecraft is that you can create all of this yourself.
Whether through the help of mods / plugins or in vanilla. I have already seen a few roll plays in Mc and took part in some myself (only small, spontaneous, on a server, but at least).
As a team of builders (and possibly devs for new mechanics) you can create a whole new world in Minecraft and design your roleplay yourself.
That's the great thing about the game.
Hm, I find it much more interesting that I can build things in Mc that don't exist in the real world.
Ever heard of servers? City build? Freebuild? Story enough?
Not me.
Oh, I read your question to the end. It just doesn't make a difference. You haven't mentioned anything that bothers you about Minecraft, except that you don't like the look of the game. Just give me a single argument why the game is overrated by its players. An argument that has nothing to do with the graphics, optical elements or in any other way with the appearance.
But the game has one
History in Ggs. To Minecraft - and it has
Role play elements, and
Speech output, thus too
Flair and
The atmosphere.
You have all of this in Minecraft. You can do everything in Minecraft with mods, plugins, command blocks and data packs. From role-playing games, MMORPGS (which are available as separate servers within Minecraft) and much more. You can even program entire games in Minecraft. For example, someone has "programmed" the entire Pokemon Red within normal Minecraft (without mods etc.). You can literally find the entire first Pokemon part with every frame, detail, bug and every game function within Minecraft. Others build working calculators, memory cells, and even computers within the game.
That all sounds pretty good - I just don't understand why you're so aggro. You are probably playing it yourself and feeling attacked, even though that was not my intention.
The game is just not my taste, it's very simple.
You probably play it yourself
Correct. For about 10 years. So of course it also has an emotional component for me, since I grew up with the game (in its beta at the time).
I just don't understand why you're so aggro.
I guess I didn't start with it:
"The graphics are just lousy, I would call them beyond" bad ""
"But why should that be fascinating when even the most iconic buildings - e.g. The Liberty Lady - look like an assembled Lego structure of a 5-year-old."
It does not matter whether this was meant derogatory (where I do not assume) or not. You just wrote it very disparagingly. And also completely incorrect. Compare the graphics of Minecraft with a sandbox game like Unturned… Alone from the "like a Lego structure of a 5-year-old" you can tell that you are not trying to write constructively and objectively (why should I do that?) . There's incredibly complex 2 and 3-D art in Minecraft that you won't find in shape in any other game. Tree works where really talented people sometimes sit for months or years. Some people have even implemented 2D arts in HD quality. The attraction of this work lies in the macrocosm. Such buildings look incredibly successful from a distance. Up close, of course, there are only blocks. Zoom in 1000 times to an HD picture. Then you only have individual color squares.
and feel attacked, although that was not my intention.
As should be evident from the last paragraph, absolutely inapplicable. I see it rather as an insult that you equate thousands of really creative, intelligent and talented people (who have gotten the almost unimaginable out of a game that is so simple at its core) with 5 year olds. That is neither fair nor accurate. In almost no other game over the years have the players shown so much inventiveness and creativity.
The game is just not my taste, it's very simple.
And nobody should accuse you of that. Each one his. Nobody forces you to like Minecraft. But if you ask a pseudo-question from the start, which you cancel with your disgust for the game, simply because you want to show how little you like this game and equate its community with toddlers, you shouldn't be surprised if you click Protest comes across.
To call my opinion inaccurate is nonsense. Because it's my opinion - and if I think it looks poop, then it looks poop to me, period.
As I said, I play games myself that don't look good in terms of graphics, but I can't and won't understand the fascination of MC - even if I can understand what others think about it.
I watched the video with Pokemon "Red" on YouTube. And I still have to say - boring. But I can understand that all these possibilities inspire others.
