Accelerate heavily modded spigot servers?

We have a Minecraft server with a lot of mods. This means that it can be used almost 1: 1 as a detailed model building board. Since we also use trains, cars, ships, etc. That we have designed ourselves, and some vehicles can become relatively fast, the server sometimes can't keep up with the chunk loading. Then it can happen that certain things are not synchronized or that players in our small community can't see each other. With many CPU cores I have found that they do not help with MC. Since I think most rental server providers rely on low-clocking Xeons / Epycs, which probably lose additional performance due to virtualization, I had the idea to switch to a provider with dedicated Ryzen servers. A 5600X e.g. Because fewer cores are unfortunately not available with the best single-core power. Would it do anything at all? Or would it be wasted time / money?

Most server providers use 2.4 GHz CPUs because they are cheap and use little power…

But what you need are fast CPUs and just as fast hard drives…

So Nvme's and fast Xeon's… But few kernels, one is probably enough…

So no VM's but dedicated servers…

That costs of course, but only death is free…

You can only test whether this works…

In my server I have 2x x5680 but no ssd… If you want to test it, I need the files…

If you are currently hosting on low clocked, (older) HCC Xeons / Opterons / Epycs, the switch to the NEN 5600X / 5800X would definitely bring something

However, they are very expensive, so you could almost think about building a PC for it and hosting it yourself, if possible

We would accept the slight surcharge. Of course, it would also be great if you could cache the world data from the server in the client. Why this is still not an option in Minecraft is incomprehensible to me, since such a feature alone could relieve the server enormously. So that only hash values are compared and if they differ because something has been changed, the chunk is downloaded again. I recently put together a PC with 5600X and 32GB RAM. But a few parts are still missing. I'll try it out then.

On living-bots.net the prices seem to be still quite OK.

Unfortunately, hosting yourself is not an option. In terms of uploads, DocSIS is unfortunately almost always crippled here in DE.

I have 500 mbit in both directions…

Business?

St

No, but fiber optic cable…

I found out earlier that there's something like that at "Deutsche Glasfaser". But unfortunately by far not for everyone. And before I start moving in this country just because of an internet connection, I'd rather emigrate. But it has to be really fun to work with such a management.

St

Yes, it does…

But I also had to wait a long time for it…

Before I had a 16 mbit line… 16 mbit down, 1 mbit up - there was nothing with hosting from home…
