Wanted to ask how to download a minecraft mod
Whenever I open the file of the mod (from CurseForge) it closes again

You don't install a mod by double-clicking it.
First of all you need the modloader for which the mod was programmed. In most cases, that's Forge. You can download this modloader for your Minecraft version on https://files.minecraftforge.net/...tforge.net.
After downloading, open the JAR file and select "Install Client". A new profile is then automatically created in your Minecraft launcher with Forge selected.
Next you need the mod. You have apparently already downloaded it. However, you have to make sure that the mod is for the same Minecraft version as you installed Forge (this is on the Curseforge page).
You then have to copy the downloaded JAR file of the mod into the mods folder. To do this, press the Windows key and R on your keyboard at the same time to open the Run dialog. There you then type in% appdata% to get to the roaming directory. Here you will find a folder called .minecraft. You open this and, if it does not already exist, create a folder called mods (everything in lower case). There you drag your Mod-JAR into it. Then you can close everything and start Forge via the Minecraft launcher.
Please note that before installing Forge you have started the Minecraft version for which you want to install Forge at least once via the launcher.
