Minecraft server goes down too little ram?

My buddy programmed my own Minecraft server and for the beginning he added 512 MB as Ram, we have 3 or 4 plugins on it. My buddy says it's a 24/7 server. One day I wanted to go to the server and once stood there connection lost, I then asked my buddy the next day why the server was offline and he said that there would be too little ram and load the server would be true? What he says?

Me

512MB Ram are deffinitively too few with 4 plugins!

512Mb you take with a maximum of 3 players Vanilla without plugins (no spigot / Bukkit)

You should deffinitively upgrade to 1G or even better 2G-Ram, 512Mb is not enough…

En

Could be very clear.

If you think about the fact that the MC client reserves standard 2 GB of RAM, how should a Bukkit / Spigot server with several plugins run on 512 MB?

So minimum I recommend you 4 if not even 6 GB of RAM to run the server stable.

Li

Yes, so we wanted to upgrade nacher to 25 GB but now please to my question xD

Li

Yes, I know we wanted to upgrade it to ähh 25 GB we already had some plugins on it but now please ask my question xD PS: there's spitot on it

Me

Yes of course he is overloaded?

If he has only 512Mb of RAM and more (and no swap) he crashes, that's the same with any program…

And 25GB are too high… Give only as much ram as is needed!

And please do not say yes we want to have 100 players on the server, buy us 25Gb Ram, then that will work, that will go in the pants! 100 people or even 50 active players do not just come out of nowhere…

Me

What is your question? Your question is if he is overloaded and yes he is?

Li

I already have my plan, I also have a YT channel

En

The question "Minecraft Server drives down to little RAM" is defninitiv formulated dumb. A correct German question would be helpful here.

Or if that is not desired: "Yes can be, but can't be"

Li

No, does he go down just because he has too little ram?

En

There are many ways why a server goes down. This can't be found without corresponding server logs.

Can also be just a wrong programmed plugin which crashes in an error and shuts down the server

ca

He said that there would be too little ram and the server load would be true?

Yes, he is right 512mb are too few and there are still PL on it ie. It is claimed much more. Conclusion your friend does not lie

Me

Haha

I have been dealing with Minecraft servers for 3 years now.

Do you know all the little Minecraft networks that are offline after 2 months?

If you have a YT channel with fabulous 1000 subscribers, luckily 100 different players will ever visit the server, but not more than 10 at the same time…

In addition you upgrade to 25Gb and the server is not really ready or how? The construction is really long-lasting and before you see your money is gone and the server offline…

And what's so special about your server that they should play with you?! On big servers like Hypixel they always have players, they do not have to wait and so on… Can you offer them that as well?

Well. I'm curious, I look at the question in 3 months again and ask how it goes…

ca

Usually owns a MC Vanilla Server ALWAYS min. 1GB (1024mb) Ram, and you are in the half… XD

Me

Yes, if a server has too little RAM then crashes or forces itself to shut down… Or it is due to a bug in the plugin, but at 512MB it is certainly the RAM

ca

On 1G

2G Ram

Um… 1G is an unknown entity to me.

Me

You know what I mean! XD

In addition, the Java arguments believe since Java 8 the statement in "G"

ca

Hehe I always have to annoy bissle.

Wait what?

Po

If the server itself has only 512mb of RAM, the Java process becomes so big after a time that the RAM is not enough anymore. Then, a security mechanism attacks the operating system and turns off the process.

As already written above, the RAM is much too little. And you should also configure the process's maximum heap to be at least 500 MB smaller than RAM on the system.
