Also, I rented a Minecraft server with 5 slots on G-Portal and have been playing there with my friends for about 3 months. Everything was always great, we built a lot, etc.
But today something strange happened… I accidentally logged in because I wanted to change something, then there was a certain player named 'JeremyWilliams'. At first I thought it was someone of us because we had someone new in the group and I didn't know their ingame name yet. Out of curiosity I teleported to him / her in Spectator mode. I saw the player destroy the crates of our Hausea, thought nothing of it, because he may have only accidentally dismantled. But when he suddenly set fire to everything, it clicked.
I kicked it off the server several times. But he always came back in less than a second! I closed Minecraft a bit panicked, after 3 minutes I was finally able to log in to G-Portal and closed the server. A few minutes later I opened it and went inside… 3 large and important houses, including all boxes, were completely destroyed.
And then he came back! I killed him with the Kill Comand. In less than 2 seconds he was standing in front of me with Tnt and tried to hit me. What surprised me the most was that he could fly! : 0 Then I finally managed to ban him.
We had a fight with people we knew shortly before and at first we assumed that it was them… However, we do not know where they got our IP from. None of us passed it on. So it was a hacker… Right?
Unfortunately, I never made a backup, which bothers me quite a bit. In any case, we now have a whitelist, nobody can get in there except the ones on it… Right?
Yes, whitelist makes sense, since only those who put it on it are included. Backups make sense at least from the worlds. If you have any questions, please feel free to write to me.
Hopefully you can rebuild everything quickly.
Put the whitelist on it and tie it up and maybe change the ip?
There are people who have a lot of fun destroying something from others (Griefer). There are also certain methods to search all possible ips until you find servers. If the server is of course still unprotected, this is a jackpot for the griefers!
The best thing to do is whitelist it on your server, if you can't get it there are certainly enough tutorials.
You don't know if the griefer has only one account or several (you can buy some of them for $ 0.01) so it may well be that he waits a little and then comes back.
In addition, it always makes sense to make backups, a lot can happen, so it is always better to have a backup! Believe but everyone (including me) has to make the mistake of not having made a backup.
What you can do to avoid such errors:
Whitelist
Never give the IP (friends only)
What to do in such cases:
Do not kick person but BAN
Find out the person's IP for an IP ban (only if you have good developers)
In the worst case, change the server's IP.
Keep calm
Contact friends to act against the person together if you can't do it alone
What not to do:
Kick person because they can always come back
Do not leave the server because otherwise you can't do anything against the person
Don't get upset
