I have a local Minecraft server. Now I want to be able to visit it outside of my local network. I also want to add a domain (via an online provider). How does this work with the port release and how do I get the domain to the server IP?

Ge

How do you host the MC server? On a machine with Debian or server like VPS or dedicated

Br

Then you have to release it to the outside. You have to do that in your fritzbox or whatever you have. But there are still a few things to consider, such as the nature of your connection and such. Port forwarding then rocks the bude

Br

Well i have nubuntu server here too

But how do I get a domain on it?

Calculator is at my home

Dyndns or goip are quite useful solutions

How does this work with a hoster, for example? (Zap Hosting or MCHost for example) If I buy a domain here, what settings do I have to make? On the router, etc. Make?

Br

Have fritzboxen under internet / releases the rider DynDNS. There you can. But I think you are too much in there… Go on goip.de and get ne xyz.goip.de address over which you lead your wan-ip and release all haven free like that for dynmap 8123 and the game tcpip 25565.

I urge you to read a little into the topic of domains and DNS. That will make things easier. At first it sounds complicated but it is relatively easy.

You have to buy a domain where you can create records. That works for most. I recommend Hetzner because you can manage the whole zoned file right away and much more. They also have a well pre-set. Then just make an A-record pointing to your IP address (that of the server). Can you google for examples?

Sorry for the spelling mistakes write from my mobile phone my thumb is too big for the keyboard…

You have to release port 25565 TCP on your router…

A fixed domain brings you nothing, because the external IP on your router, daily changes…

Otherwise you rent an IP with a provider (= Strato.de, for example) and enter the corresponding IP in the domain administration…

In your home you do that every time the external IP changes…

A hostname of dyn.com does that through a tool itself (or your router does that)

Meaningful for you is therefore a hostname of dyn, noip or whatever they are - and which supports your router under the keyword DDNS…

How expensive is such a service?

In addition, there are no separate domains but only such subdomains from the provider. Or am I wrong? If so, can someone please send me any detailed instructions or tell me where to find one? I would be very grateful for that. Lg

You can choose among hundreds of "subdomains", there's definitely something for you…

I can guide you…
