I just installed my radeon r590 fatboy 8gb…
After starting and downloading the software and starting a graphics-intensive game (ark), my PC only heated up completely and was as loud as a phone (see vid 1). Then I quickly shut it down and screwed it on to see if it was the graphics card or a fan that I somehow bumped into. After a restart, the graphics card suddenly made a quick tick noise and it smelled a bit severe. What could be the reason for this? As such, it worked in terms of graphics (although I had pretty bad fps in Minecraft).
Is it defective or maybe I also wired it incorrectly? I don't really know me there…
If important:
Processor: i5 4460 & 16 GB ddr3
Would also have videos but unfortunately you can't set them.
Really need help right now
You could insert YouTube links for videos here
I had the same problem and got in touch with AMD support and got the following tip.
Thank you for contacting AMD customer service. I'm delighted that you have chosen an Rx 590.
Due to the higher power consumption (in watts) of the Rx 590 compared to the Rx 580, more cooling power is required for Rx 590 graphics cards to avoid overheating. As the manufacturer of the graphics card, XFX is responsible for the design and function of the cooling system on your Rx 590.
One way you can do this through the software would be to increase the fan speed. To do this, go to Performance> Configuration in the Radeon software and set the tuning control to Manual. Activate fan tuning, deactivate the zero rpm function, change the fan control using the points in the diagram and click on Apply changes. More information can be found in https://www.amd.com/...erformance. If that was not enough, it could be that there's not enough air in the housing and the graphics card can therefore suck in too little air to cool properly.
Since then everything has been okay.
