My sister and I build together in a world that I created. We have often been in and out of the world, saved files, etc. When we went out into the world today, we didn't spawn where we left the world, but both 200 blocks away (probably at the Worldspawn). When we got to our place, everything my sister built was completely gone. She had built a huge, very detailed castle, as well as a house and a tree house. Everything was no longer there. My house was still there, but my paddock was gone too. However, when we were in the world for the first time, I had removed blocks between two water holes and between two lava lakes in order to enlarge them. The blocks were back. The latest changes that I made to the house about three days ago are still there. All I have done is add a snow mod that I have been using elsewhere without any problems. It's out now, the problem is still there. I don't even know if that was the reason.
We're frustrated and angry now, of course. Can it be restored or not? What could be the reason?

And what version of Minecraft are you playing?
Unfortunately there's only the possibility to search for the world in the backup folder, I assume that you played over LAN? Or on a server?
If you use a mod it can be that it has to adapt the world. If you take the mod again, the world won't change again. So it could possibly be the mod.
You can also play on a server, they often make backups.
