At the moment we have a free server at Aternos, but it also lags with paper etc… Well, it's free too.

We always used Nitrado back then. Great price / performance ratio and, above all, everything is super easy to do. From the purchase process to setting up the server. You're super flexible and I think we paid 4 euro / month for somehow 4 or 5 people. Usually there weren't any more than that.
How much RAM should you just try. We just took the standard and never had any problems.
And you can still change the RAM right?
I took mine-hoster.de. Super easy, super cheap.
1 euro per GB of RAM. Can be changed at any time.
If I were you, I would take 2-3 GB should be enough and if not you just increase it
