My hoppers don't connect to the chest?

Hi wanted to ask how it is with the hoppers (I think they are funnels) have been playing minecraft for a while but somehow that never works for me. Have already watched tutorials but did not help. Is there any trick for? Would be collegiate if you explained the whole process once
