I would like to buy Minecraft for my brother and have now seen while "researching" that there are different versions of it. For Windows 10, Java Edition and bedrock Edition. Where are the specific differences and which version is most worthwhile? Unfortunately, I'm quite a beginner and couldn't find out exactly what the best alternative is here
Java version is better.
Java, you have a lot more options when it comes to multiplayer.
The only benefit to the Windows 10 edition will be that the performance is better.
Why?
I thought with bedrock it would be easier to play with multiple people regardless of platform?
Is compatible with most servers and mods and texturepacks.
That's true. Still, you only have the realms, no servers. The servers are probably one of the main parts of Minecraft that you don't have in the BR version.
Windows (Java) I would take.
The Java version is better.
In Bedrock you have better performance, but only access to a fraction of the servers and you have to pay real money for texturepack, skins etc. Which are free in the Java Edition.
Because you can create skins for free and you can download texture packs for free. The Bedrock edition costs the money and other editions as well.
