Overcome apiphobia (fear of bees)?

Hi, I'm suffering from a phobia that may sound funny to outsiders (to be honest, I always have to laugh at myself and never take it badly when someone laughs at it).

Since childhood, when I was chased by a swarm of bees, I was terrified of bees or bee-like insects (bumblebee, wasp, etc… But no flies).

That is why there have often been funny experiences, e.g. At work, when there was a wasp in the room and I waved my hands in panic in front of 2 other colleagues, etc.

The very thought of the buzzing of a wasp gives me goose bumps.

And I know it sounds stupid, I had to laugh at myself, but never mind: I just tried Minecraft out of boredom and fought different NPCS, but never like fear or the like. Until I suddenly came across 2 bees in a forest.

I wasn't as terrified as in the RL now, but this whirring made me super nervous after I decided to kill the cattle to stop the whirring, they attacked me and well, I fled quite a bit in the game and got lost xD

This is also the reason why I asked the question here: Are there methods to somehow reduce or overcome this fear? I thought my reaction was funny but it is also annoying when you can't play "normally".

Exposure therapy is said to help well with such fears. You are then, controlled, exposed to your fears.

You could talk to a therapist / psychologist if you want to do something.

I'm allergic to wasp venom, I'm definitely not waving, but I start running if possible.

I do not find that funny. Especially because such a really stupid cow once hit me on the arm when a wasp was sitting on it. I shouldn't line up like that. I then got a nice adrenaline shot and the cow got a special treatment from my brother.

I respect my bee, but don't be afraid, it's lovely.

What can I say, stand close by and force yourself to rest. Let them come, if you don't hurt them, they won't hurt you either. Just no hectic movements. And the same with wasps. I can even hold it in my hand.

What have you done to be followed by a swarm?

My grandfather was a beekeeper and I regularly helped him here and there, the most important thing is to know that at least bees and bumblebees are absolutely peaceful creatures and do not sting unless they are in danger of life. Fidgeting panic actually only makes things worse, much better is simply not moving much until the animal has decided that you are actually really boring.

I have absolutely no idea how to deal with phobias per se and what exactly you are afraid of, but bees are really lovable animals

First of all, I want to tell you that your phobia is completely normal. I think it's good that you can laugh at it and don't let it get you down.

In principle, I would advise you to hear the whirring (via YouTube or similar) in pleasant situations. While eating or when you are out with your friends. It is important that you control the noise and determine when it sounds so that you are not (negatively) surprised. Use it as a reward principle and you will soon associate it with something beautiful. If you encounter a bee etc., just stay calm and RELAXED. Do not disturb the whir, I'm enjoying myself, for example. Whenever someone buzzes around, everyone freaks out and I just don't care. 😂

Believe me, they don't hurt you. And if you have one on your skin, let it crawl. You stay calm, she stays calm. Just talk yourself into it, she is your friend and just wants to say hello.

I myself have agoraphobia, but I hardly notice it myself through regular shopping in large locations with many people. Reward principle)

All the best, Tom ☆

😂 Excuse me, but brainwashing only helps. Imagine these little animals bring you the delicious honey to satisfy your hunger.

I don't know if I was actually persecuted at that time or just happened to be in the middle of a swarm, at least I wasn't stabbed ^^

I don't know how old I was, maybe 5, anyway I haven't gone to school yet. I was walking there and probably wasn't paying attention, at least I suddenly noticed that extremely many bees were wandering aimlessly around me. It was as if all the bees were suddenly popped up out of nowhere.

That actually underlines my statement - even though you ran into a swarm of bees, absolutely nothing happened to you.

Bees are absolutely the best insects I know
