Why can't I log into Minecraft?

I wanted to play Minecraft again today.

Since I haven't played for a long time and didn't know my password, I reset it.

Then I tried to register what didn't work.

What could be the problem?

The launcher is out of date

So do I have to download a new launcher? Got the installer from my USB stick. That's the one from 2013. I thought that's enough
