My friend is playing minecraft on the cell phone and I on the pc (Java edition) can we somehow play for free? If yes how?

No, this is not possible. However, if you bought Minecraft Java before, I think you will get it for Windows for free in 2018, on which you can play together. Otherwise your friend would have to play it on the PC or you can buy the Windows version for your PC in the Microsoft Store

These are both different games. Example: Fortnite and War Thunder can't be played together. Minecraft Java and the Minecraft bedrock edition are different games.
