Ender egg fallen in exit portal?

Jo folks, I defeated the end dragon in Minecraft when I wanted to teleporage the egg away from the bedrock instead of falling on the surface into the portal where is the egg going? Is it gone forever?

Probably that was a lag. Most likely, the egg is gone now. But if you really want it and you're playing version 1.9, you can revive the Ender Dragon and earn the egg again.
