Can Minecraft prevent Redstone from joining?

Can Minecraft prevent a lever from connecting to Red Stone? I wanted to switch a funnel on or off with a lever, but I can't do that because the lever is automatically connected to a redstone line behind it. How can I prevent this?

You put a stone to the funnel, and the lever to the stone.

Put Redstone differently, use repeaters, "isolate" with bricks… Depending on.
