Prevent monsters spawning for large areas?

I'm building a huge greenhouse in Minecraft. However, we want to illuminate that with the Heavy as in the house a combine harvester, which would collide with hanging lamps. And since the ceiling is about 16 blocks high and the harvester is about 8 blocks high, the light from the ceiling is hard to get to the ground to prevent the mob from spawning…

According to Wiki, each mob should have 70 aggressive mobs, so no more spawning. These would have but since I in multiplayer games permanently loaded, means a player would have to stand there's therefore no option and I have no desire to fish 500 Nametags. What other possibilities (best possible without cheats and achievable in survival) are there to prevent the mob spawning? And would it be enough if I placed Glowstone in the little moats between the fields to prevent the mob spawning?

I know, is a long question but thank you for all the helpful answers…

Addendum: Would there be a command with which one could deactivate the mob spawning for certain areas / chunks?

Ja

Just use slabs as ground and most mobs will not spawn on it

Ci

No, but with server NEN WorldEdit helps. This allows you to mark the area in the game and then ban mobile spawning.

an

Just make a hole in the ground every few feet, put in a torch and cover with a carpet.

(Green carpet in the grass, gray carpet in the stone, …)

That's the way to do it normally.

Can monsters spawn on arable land?

an

Nope, they can't.
