Surface Pro 6 i5 or i7?

Because I have already consumed four college blocks after four weeks Uni, I would like to get a Surface Pro… Incidentally, I have a 4-5 years old Acer laptop with i7 I would like to replace.

I just want to improve my efficiency for the university by not having to look for my documents in the backpack and wants to write with the pen on it. Stop accessing my documents anywhere convenient, whether in the tram or in bed. To stream videos and series and have office as well as characters, math and image editing programs run on it. Except for Minecraft, I do not want to play any other game.

After watching pretty much all the REVIEWS on Youtube and showing everyone why the Surface Pro is so awesome (pretty suspicious if any influencer says so) and after looking at Miserly where I'm moving at price point, I have the difference between the i5 and i7 version, the quality and the price / performance not yet understood.

There's a difference of 250 euro between i5 and i7 version with 256GB memory… Do you think that is justified or is i5 complete?

generally reviews would be great

I do not own reviews, but the performance difference between an i5 and i7 should be clear.

For your requirements, the i5 version with 8 GB of RAM is quite sufficient, even Photoshop works fine. In addition, the i5 of course has a slightly longer battery life.

Disadvantages of both versions: no USB C / Thunderbolt, no LTE (this is available with the Surface Pro LTE).

We do not need to talk about prices here, either you want the part with the high price or not.

I have a Surface Pro 3 and I also use it for the university (in my case). It is really great to have all notes in the same place and with about 1kg it is also nice to have it always in your backpack. Most Profs with me upload their slides or scripts always on the server, which I get then always, place them in OneNote, and then make notes on or next to the slides. I also use it regularly for image editing and graphic design.

My Pro 3 is already quite old, but the fact that I have the version with i5 and only 4 GB of RAM is now a problem. Most programs are still running, but multitasking is problematic. Writing in OneNote still works fine. But with 8 GB, I think you have enough air for a while, and a lot has happened with the processors as well, which is why I think the i5 will be enough for the newer models. Although the i7 offers more power, but also needs more battery and can be warmer, which provides for a louder ventilation.

Unless you want to edit videos, probably the i5 is enough. However, I'm not sure what Minecraft is about, maybe you could benefit from the i7, especially if you want to use mods.

In general, I would give a clear buy recommendation for the Surface Pro, I'm still very satisfied despite the fact that mine is getting a bit decrepit and I will definitely buy one again.

For all the tasks described, the i5 would probably be enough - with the exception of Minecraft, I'm not sure. With an i7, you'd be on the safe side.

Is there the LTE model in Germany at all?

Bo

It is offered at least in online shops, if it is actually available, I can't say.

Dankeschööönn

Well… I have no time to play anyway and my old Acer laptop…

Bo

With pleasure.

You're welcome.

I mean, I've got Vanilla Minecraft up and running on minimal settings on my mother's 7 year old PC, which has a Pentium. Actually, it should actually run synonymous on the i5 reasonably. Only with mods I would be just uncertain.

An i5 is enough, the i7 is not necessary for your purposes. In my laptop for the university is only one i3 and 4 GB of RAM installed and that is enough.

If you want something a little cheaper than the Surface Pro, then take the Asus Vivo Book Flip 14. I have that too and I highly recommend it.
