Found a portal in a deep cave, but it's brand new to me that there's something like that in caves. Is it normal to find something like that in caves and do I have to watch out for something special?

Then you play multiplayer and it's from another player, or you accidentally created a new portal when you returned from the Nether because you were too far away from your old portal.

They have been around since 1.16. Most of the time, however, they spawn on the surface. You don't have to watch out for anything, this is a completely normal portal.
In the world I play alone, there are some reingejoints that I kicked straight away. So others couldn't have done that. When I was in the Nether, I always came back with the old portal and didn't create a new one anywhere else.
I installed an update from Minecraft yesterday or something, maybe it's new that portals spawn in caves. The portal was definitely on and was in the amount of 17.
