I've been actively playing all kinds of games since I was 12 (5 years old), but I've never been particularly good at them. There's no genre in which I don't suck: shooters, horror, stealth, RPGs, not even Minecraft or anything like that. I don't think that's that bad, but it's kind of weird, am I just so bad with my motor skills? Wouldn't you normally be good after so much practice? Are you good at games? I somehow always need someone to carry me. The only thing I really enjoy are walking simulators like Layers of Fear…
After so much practice you would normally be pretty good. But who says you practiced for a second?
Play! = Practice.
Of course you also learn something while playing and you get on with controls, it takes more time etc. Pp. But that doesn't change the mindset. You don't learn because you are doing something, but because you actively think about it and consider where you can improve, etc. Pp. - that is practice.
Is a common misconception that putting time in something leads to automatically doing it better. You have to work actively for it. Even if you are at a disadvantage here in terms of your genetics, gross motor skills or the like, you should see corresponding progress after the time, but you have only got better so slowly that it feels the same for you, here the problem first.
You have to get used to it. But I don't know what that is.
But I wouldn't be proud of myself if I could play very well. Everyone has their strengths. I think it can be with video games too. But what is it? No idea.
You basically "learn" to play.
Of course you are proud when you can do something, no matter what it is, you might not share it, but against your nature it would not be proud of it…
Yeah, but I'd rather be good at other things. I can play well in some games. I mean, I'd rather be better at other things than at play.
But that's not why you're not not proud.
Is it because of the motor skills? Are you trying to play well at all?
I'm e.g. Not a particularly good LoL player, but that's because I don't want to spend the time to do this. If I don't feel like it, I don't play.
