I've been playing Minecraft for a while and it always worked fine until yesterday.
Yesterday I couldn't start the launcher anymore, but it is displayed in the task manager when I start the launcher as a background process and I've already tried all possible tips, such as reinstalling the launcher, starting the launcher in compatibility mode and now I want to go next delete the .minecraft folder.
However, if I only have the Explorer open at% appdata% and press delete in the .minecraft folder, it works briefly and the new window with the green bar appears but halfway through it says that the folder is still open and therefore I don't can delete. Does anyone have any advice for me?
Restart your computer and then directly delete the folder without starting the launcher or anything else.
Important: The folder contains all Minecraft files, including e.g. Worlds and screenshots. So if you want to keep something, you should move this file somewhere else beforehand so that you can then drag it back into the folder after reinstalling Minecraft.
I have tried this several times but I still can't delete the folder
I've had the problem too. All you really have to do is open the task manager and search for minecraft in it. You then right-click and press 'End task'. Then just try again to open the launcher. It worked for me straight away.
For me, the launcher is only displayed as a background process when I double-click it and then twice. I've just tried it, but unfortunately it didn't work.
Anyway, thanks for the answer!
Do you have the latest Java version?
Yes, I just looked
I can only think of two options.
to install the latest graphics card driver once (if not already available)
and then install the latest Windows update (if not already available).
Minecraft is pretty strict when it comes to these things (everything must always be up to date).
I just restarted my PC and the Minecraft Launcher updates but doesn't open afterwards.
Then I'm sorry. Unfortunately I have no idea what else to do
It's a shame but thanks anyway!
