Old minecraft launcher?

When I download the launcher for the Java version from the minecraft.net page, I get the old Minecraft launcher but not the brand new one. Why is that?

And how can I get the nine launcher?

You get the old launcher. But it should update itself to the latest version the first time it is started.

Right click on the minecraft launcher icon, go to properties, then to compatibility and then there's a tick "run program in compatibility mode for: (operating system name)
