Create Minecraft history, such as Minecraft freedom?

Hello everybody: Many people know the project "Minecraft Freedom" by Paluten. He talked with self-made characters, such as Edgar, prof. Duck etc. He creates a very own story.

Does anyone know, with which mod that is made (if it is at all a mod)? So, how to program such conversations or such a story? Have to create a small minecraft story myself, wanted to privately with friends such a rip-off, each made weekly a part and the others play it, the whole then alternately or somehow like that.
