I recently bought Minecraft and now I've heard of so-called mods. Since I'm a very big Harry Potter fan, I really wanted to install this Harry Potter Universe Mod.

I have version 1.15.1.

How exactly do I get such a mod, where can I download it and how do I get it loaded into my Minecraft? I'm a complete beginner in such things and somehow can't find out…

It would be great, if somebody could help me!

To install mods you can just have a look on YouTube. There are tons of videos on how to do it.

The Harry Potter Universe Mod is only available for the old version 1.7.10. That means you either use the old version or use an alternative for 1.12. For the 1.15 there are almost no mods.

I actually haven't tried YouTube yet. Thank you!

that means I can also put my version back in an older version?

al

Yes, you can play any version of Minecraft that has ever existed

Sk

Most likely there's not the latest version of the mod (I will also take a look)

Generally you install mods with Forge. This is basically a mod to install other mods.

In 5 minutes or so I will be back on my PC and I can send you the links and explain it in more detail.

Thanks a lot! I actually found a Youtube viedeo. I downloaded forge, created a new installation with 1.7.10 and downloaded the mod.

Everything was okay, then I tried to load one of my maps, then it crashed. "The game crashed whilst unexpected error"

Then I tried again with a completely new map, i.e. Created a new world and it still crashed. I do not know why…

Maybe you have another tip…

Sk

Puuuh, that's bad now Now it's almost impossible to find out why it crashed. So the mod loaded, minecraft started, but when creating the map it crashed?

Se

Yes exactly.

First tries to load it and then comes "shutting down internal server" and then I'm back in the launcher and there's such a window
"The game crashed whilst unexpected error
Error: java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException "

No idea why.

Se

Oh man.

Okay, I lowered the range of vision, then it's off to a new world. I already have an existing world that I actually wanted to continue playing. It still doesn't work. There's a new error message:

The game crashed whilst exception in server tick loop

Error: java.lang.NullPointerException: Exception in server tick loop

Sk

What kind of computer do you have? I used to have such errors on my bad laptop more often when I installed a lot of mods. I also know this "shutting down internal server" message.

Maybe the mod is not well done and therefore needs a lot of computer power, maybe you have a very bad PC. D)

It would also fit that the visibility changes. Because of this, MC logically has to calculate less.

So actually I have a very good PC. A friend put it together for me.
DEll XPS 15 and just 3 months old. I study architecture and also have to do renderings, so I actually thought it would be suitable for this.

During further research, I found that with the range of vision, that the new Verson has a much greater range of vision (had that on the very top) and the old version can't do it yet, so it probably crashed.

Sk

Ah, that sounds pretty obvious.

The laptop is not a gaming machine, but should definitely be enough for Minecraft with a mod haha
