I play the Minecraft Modpack Life in new wood version 1.16.4, but while playing the game hangs up every few seconds and the CPU increases to 100%. If the CPU then sinks again, it briefly continues normally until the next lay. What can I do against it? Can someone help me there?
What kind of CPU do you have? Maybe it's just too weak.
Maybe allocate more ram, I think it should be at least 6GB
I have the "Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz" CPU. I don't know my exact RAM allocation because I kept the default setting. The Xmx is at 4096m, but there are other things behind it such as B. Xms256m XX: PermSize = 256m. Unfortunately, I don't know exactly what that means.
A 2500k comes to 100% utilization at Mc, had it himself 2. You can see how much Ram Mc has been assigned when you press F3 ingame in the top right corner.

I increased the RAM to 6GB as you recommended and it actually helped. I didn't do it right away because I was obsessed with it being too high a CPU load, no idea why.
Put Xmx = 6000m, that should help with the lagsoikes. The CPU is still fully sufficient for Minecraft. It is not unusual for the CPU to go to 100%. Just the lag spikes. Otherwise try to push optifine into the mods folder and see if it works. Optifine can't handle some mods, but it usually works
