There are two different mods.
Just Enough Items, so JEI is another mod that works just like Not Enough Items, NEI. NEI was until 1.7.10 the mod you used for it.
JEI came out when NEI did not play for 1.8-1.12. Meanwhile, there are both mods for the 1.12.
