Which Minecraft version do you find best for mods?

I have a question. I set up my PC again and reinstalled Minecraft. But I don't want to have 500k folders with different versions. Which version do you like best and / or has the best / most mods?

Ps. I left out the 1.7.10 because it is simply too old for me and the 1.15 because it is too new for me and has too few mods.

Is the version with the best and most mods. Although 1.12.2 now has almost as many, and just as good. 1.7.10 is still awesome for the Ogs. But most take 1.12.2.
