A few weeks ago I had a couple of problems with my computer, which resulted in my entire% appdata% folder for minecraft being deleted. Means mods gone, versions gone, tp / rp gone, but that's not so bad anymore. My problem started when I wanted to reinstall the forge versions. While it was the normal installer file for older versions like 1.7.10, the installer file for higher versions like 1.12 and 1.1.6 was a jar file that I couldn't even open. If anyone knows what I'm dealing with here, please let me know
For jar files you have to install Java separately or "open with" and select Minecraft's Java… When you install Java, the file extension .jar is assigned automatically, so that it should work with a double click… But that doesn't always work. Some still have problems…
First of all thanks for the answer but when I try to open the file with java a blackboard comes up for a few frames and then it closes automatically. Unfortunately I can't take a picture of it
