I wanted to buy VR glasses and watched an hour of video about VR glasses. I was thinking about getting the Oculus Quest.
I could easily use them on the go, outside, in bed, in other rooms, on vacation, anywhere. In addition, if I need the power, I can connect it to the PC and play Minecraft Java with the VR Mod, for example.
So what I would do with the VR glasses would be VRChat, BeatSaber, Minecraft and a few other games (maybe someone can recommend something good to me?) If I connect them to the PC I would also record / stream (if Possible?)
So: Do you think I should have made the right decision with the Oculus Quest? And if not, could you recommend me one in the similar price range that would rather fit?
PS: Not a must but how long should I play VR in one piece? I don't want to scrap my eyes… Would an hour a day be a good start?
LG, a guy who wants VR glasses.
Yes, the quest would be the best choice.
First of all: You don't break your eyes anymore than if you stared normally at a computer screen.
At the beginning, I recommend that you only play for as long as you can. As soon as you start to get cold sweat, feel sick or generally don't feel well: take a break!
This is the only way to protect yourself against "motion sickness" and to strengthen your stomach.
Oh, and don't forget. Start with easy games like Beatsaber. They all have a comfort label and you should stick to them for the start.
Thank you so much!
You will quickly neglect the aspect on the way.
at home it is a small advantage if you really have to change rooms. Outside is the problem of light conditions (too little or too much disturbs the tracking). At the most you will take her with friends, but that may also be omitted because a the friends do not like themselves or b you worry about the transport and do not want to pack them carefully.
basically all hmd's are good, the smaller differences have more of an impact on the imersion or the easier reading etc. What should be important to you would be contrast, black level, fov, tracking, readability, comfort. To do this, you would have to know what you need and want. For the few games you can take any hmd because it makes little difference, apart from your own taste (color, nits, contrast, comfort).
"If I connect them to the PC, I would also record / stream (if possible?"
Yes
"Do you think I should have made the right decision with the Oculus Quest?"
depends on what you want.
"PS: It's not a must, but how long should I play VR in one go? I don't want to scrap my eyes… Would it be good to start with an hour a day?"
it doesn't matter because the image is reproduced stereocopically and your eyes see normally. A great advantage over reading, sitting in front of the flat or looking bluntly into the distance. What remains is the blue light. This stresses the eye. Simply, if it is important to you, buy an attachment from vr lenses or vr opticians with a blue filter. In short, you don't break your eyes anymore than with the mobile phone and television consumption that people already operate in excess.
Ok, first of all thanks for the answer. But I don't really know what I want because I've never really played VR, first on gamecity but I didn't pay attention to color contrast or FOV. I just want a good picture that I can use on the PC and yes I thought Quest would be best.
If it is simply a good picture (readability) the order would be as follows.
primax 8kx
valve index
rift s
vive pro / oculus quest
WMR (common resolution partially)
rift cv1 / vive cv1
is just rough now.
what do you want to play
are black levels important to you?
But they are not exactly cheap
So good picture for little money.
rift s or wmr with lcd panel (would prefer the rift s).
if you place more value on sw or contrast, the quest or odysee (would prefer the quest).
Uh thanks abert I think I have already decided on the quest.
