You can request this in your Minecraft account on the official Minecraft website.
Then you will simply receive a "voucher code" which you can then enter in the Microsoft Store.
Why like every other person? Millions of people (myself included) got it for free.

I don't want to start a discussion here, but I don't think the Minecraft Bedrock is any worse.
It just comes across like a copy of the original.
PvP, bridging, and otherwise all game mechanics are poor or also server and modding.
The win10 / bedrock version is maybe quite ok to build a single player or something else in the same direction, but in everything else (especially when it comes down to competitive) I can't take it seriously
That's true. Just found the wording a bit strange. As if it were strange to get the Windows 10 Edition for free.
